Mmouck Leteh:Wabane The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy, Paul Tasong, has called for renewed support for President Paul Biya and the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) during a strategic meeting held in Mmouck Leteh, Wabane Subdivision. This meeting took place on October 17, 2026, as political mobilisation intensifies ahead of the forthcoming legislative and municipal elections.
According to Cameroon News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Tasong, who serves as the head of the CPDM Permanent Divisional Delegation for Lebialem. It brought together numerous party supporters and local residents, who reaffirmed their commitment to Biya and the ruling party. Tasong also outlined several proposed development projects for the area, such as electricity extensions and road rehabilitation, while urging party militants to maintain unity and bolster the CPDM's presence in Wabane.
Wabane Council Mayor Nembo Ketu Israel was prominently featured in discussions during the meeting, which provided a platform for supporters to express their endorsement of the party's leadership and ongoing development initiatives in the subdivision. Mayor Israel is central to emerging political tensions in the Lebialem Division as the elections approach, with his team asserting that he enjoys substantial support from villagers rallying behind his development record.
The minister's visit, however, was not without controversy. Some traditional rulers reportedly displayed banners and attempted to block the passage of Tasong and the senior divisional officer. In response, statements issued on October 20 by the Wabane Fons Conference and the Wabane Chiefs' Union distanced themselves from these actions, advocating for peace, dialogue, and respect for traditional institutions.
