Bamenda: The government has launched the process to rehabilitate the fire-damaged section of the Bamenda Regional Hospital following the June 29 blaze that destroyed key departments of the facility. According to Cameroon News Agency, a specialized technical team from the Ministry of Public Health was dispatched immediately after the incident to assess the extent of the damage. The fire destroyed the hospital's multipurpose department, including the main drug store, medical records unit, ICT facilities, and several administrative offices. Health authorities stated that the assessment will inform a comprehensive, sustainable, and needs-based reconstruction plan for the referral hospital. Officials announced that measures have already been implemented to ensure the continuity of patient care and minimize disruptions to health services during the reconstruction period. The government reaffirmed its commitment to restoring the hospital's full operations as quickly as possible and urged residents of the Northwe st Region to remain calm and confident as rehabilitation efforts get underway.
