Buea:Lawyer and human rights advocate Nkongho Felix Agbor stresses that the dialogue led by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on September 28, 2026, in the South West must be followed by ongoing consultations with those most affected by the conflict. According to Cameroon News Agency, Agbor, who participated in the dialogue held in Buea, focused on listening and expressed support for the prime minister's approach to engaging stakeholders in the pursuit of peace. He highlighted that the success of the meeting would be determined by actions taken after its conclusion. Agbor emphasized the need for participants' concerns to be 'recorded, answered and followed up,' and urged that challenging issues such as political participation, trust, grievances, and ongoing violence be addressed. Agbor condemned attacks on civilians and noted that achieving lasting peace involves tackling issues related to political participation, leader legitimacy, and the risk of violence stemming from a lack of meaningful representation. He described the meeting as a potentially significant start but insisted that 'one meeting cannot settle these questions.' He also advocated for a similar dialogue in the North West Region, underscoring the necessity for consistent community engagement, transparent follow-up, and honest reporting to ensure that the dialogue leads to real change.
