Zesco United and Nkana played out a 2-2 draw in Kitwe on Sunday in the Copperbelt derby, the topliner of the Week Four of the 2017 Zambia Super Division.

The draw saw the hosts and record 12-time Zambian champions, Nkana, stay unbeaten in the league for a second time against Zesco. The Kitwe-based side ended a 12-year winless record against their rivals last November, when they won 3-2 at the latter’s backyard in Ndola.

Nkana’s home draw also mitigated for their 2-0 loss to Zesco in the season curtain raiser (Charity Shield final) four weeks ago.

Kenyan-import Jesse Were put Zesco ahead from the spot in the fourth minute before Dave Daka made it 2-0 in the 20th minute.

Ronald Kampamba pulled one back for Nkana in the 32nd minute to see his side a goal down at the break.

Nkana evened the score in the 80th minute through striker Ronald Chibwe to see the two sides share the spoils in a dramatic duel the host dominated.

Zesco, however, still enjoy the bragging rights of the Copperbelt derby against Nkana with 11 wins, seven draws and one defeat since their promotion to the top flight in 2004.

The draw also sees Zesco maintain top spot of the standings for another week via superior goals, tied on 10 points with Lumwana Radiants. Nkana are ninth, five points behind Zesco.
