‘We have a lot of regrets’ – Benin U20 coach Deguenon after Zambia draw

Benin coach Mattias Deguenon says his team have a lot of regrets following their 1-1 stalemate against Zambia in the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Cheetahs dominated at the Alexandria Stadium but failed to see off the match allowing the Chipolopolo to snatch an important point in Group C on Tuesday

The West Africans are back at the tournament after a long absence and they looked set to secure the points when Rodolfo Aloko broke the deadlock before the hour mark.

They couldn’t hold on to the lead as Rickson Ng’ambi profited from a defensive howler to draw level.

“We shared the points, which was disappointing given the courageous performance of the troops,” Mattias Deguenon told journalists at his post match press conference.

“The players played well but you have to be more focused, more realistic,” Deguenon added.

“After our goal, we gave the ball to the opponent to fight.”
