TotalEnergies AFCON U-20: Congo raring to go against Tunisia

The Young Red Devils of Congo are in high spirits ahead of their TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match against Tunisia on Friday.

Congo finished second in Group B behind Uganda with five points to secure a place in the last eight of the tournament.

The Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia secured second place in Group C with four points and Congo coach Marie Joseph Madienguela admits they face a tough challenge.

“Everyone knows that the Tunisian national team is strong and the match will not be easy but we are ready,” said Madienguela.

“We respect the Tunisian national team and know that it has many top players in their ranks but we will play to win and qualify.

“We succeeded in winning the title in the past and that increases the pressure on us but we are ready for the challenge.”

Striker Prince Soussou who scored in their 2-1 win over South Sudan in the group stage and was named in the Best XI of group stage says they’re ready to take on Sellimi’s team.

“We prepared a lot for the match and we know that it will not be easy but it will be a football match and we will strive to win,” the young Soussou said.
