South Sudan beat Somalia 2-0 on Sunday in Juba to complete a double and set up a date with Uganda at the Second Round of the Central-East Zone qualifiers of the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya 2018.
Second half strikes from Robert Urube and James Moga was enough for the Bright Stars to progress 4-1 on aggregate. South Sudan won 2-1 in the first leg in Djibouti last week.
The Bright Stars outshone their visitors but had to wait till the 53rd minute for Atlabara midfielder Urube to break the deadlock.
Moga put the icing on the cake on 69 minutes, his second in both legs to ensure a place at the penultimate round of the regional qualifiers.
Earlier on Saturday, Madagascar and Mauritius booked their places in the Southern Zone. Madagascar beat Malawi 1-0 away in Lilongwe to go through 2-0 on aggregate whilst a 1-1 draw against Seychelles in Mahe was enough for Mauritius to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
The next round of matches is scheduled for the weekend of 14-16 July 2017.
Meanwhile, the final tournament is scheduled for 12 January to 4 February 2018 in Kenya.
