3,840 solar panels to produce 1.5 MW of energy, used to power aircraft at Douala airport; this is the information that has been made public by the Cameroonian company called Aeroports du Cameroun (ADC).
These solar panels are located on an area of more than 14,000 square meters at Douala International Airport. ADC also indicates that this project, backed by a donation from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), aims to initially reduce CO2 production by aircraft.
Also, it will produce through this solar photovoltaic power plant nearly 1.5 megawatts of energy that will be used to power aircraft through the electric GPUs being acquired by ADC.
For Thomas Owona Assoumou, ADC's General Manager, this project is innovative in that it will significantly reduce the emission of carbon dioxide into nature, but also improve the availability of energy on the Douala airport platform. .
