Senegal and Ecuador finished goalless at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in their final Group F match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.
The west Africans thought they had the winning goal in the 54th minute. But the video assistant referee cancelled Aliou Badji’s effort as the forward was adjudged to have fouled Ecuador goalkeeper Jose Cevallos after he managed to keep out an Ibrahima Niane header on the line.
Ecuador’s Joao Rojas attempted a powerful low shot in the 78th minute but Senegal goalkeeper Mouhamed M’baye was up to the challenge and made the save.
The shared point means Senegal finishes as Group F runners-up to USA, who drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia in the group’s other match, while Ecuador head home.
