A brace from Mbwana Samatta was enough for Tanzania to earn 2-0 victory over Botswana in an international friendly on Saturday at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Samatta who plays for Belgium side KRC Genk, netted the first from solo effort just two minutes into the game sealing victory with the second three minutes time with a superb free-kick.
The classy play of the 2015 African Player of the Year-Based in Africa nearly yielded four goals after missing another two from inside the six yard on the 67 and 77 minutes.
The visitors will blame their poor concentration and composure in the final third after Lebogang Ditsele missed a chance to level the score in the first half after his shot just hit the bar.
Botswana also missed another chance after substitute Kabelo Seakanyeng’s efforts ended in vain whilst Thero Setsue also missed a chance on 75 minutes.
Meanwhile, Tanzania will host Burundi in another similar exercise on Tuesday, 28 March 2017 at the same venue.
