RIVERS UNITED UPBEAT ABOUT RAYON SPORTS TEST

Head Coach of Nigerian side Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, has declared his side is battle ready for their 2nd 1/16th round first leg clash against Rayon Sports of Rwanda on Sunday in Port Harcourt.

Earlier in the week, the Nigerians received a financial and moral boast from the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to fuel the team’s quest for victory in the first leg at the expense of their visitors.

Rivers United were knocked out of the Total CAF Champions League by El Merreikh of Sudan 4-3 aggregate, and need a convincing win to get their campaign back on track.

Eguma is eager to see his side return to winning ways against Rayon, Rwanda’s surviving club in the continental club championship.

“We are really preparing for the game against Rayon Sports and at this stage we need good results with a good number of goals as well.

“We need to win, especially at home. Also, we need to make our fans especially the Governor (Nyesom Wike) happy because he has done so much to make sure we excel, and we hope to justify that this weekend.

“I know Rayon Sports is a very strong, young and energetic team; they have a lot of youthful players and can cause an upset but I know my boys will do the needful on that day.

“We have to work very hard and not take them for granted. I know they will fight with all their strength but let see how it goes.

“We have to work hard, put our acts together to secure victory,” Eguma told CAFOnline.com

The return leg will take place on Saturday, 22 April 2017 in Kigali.
