QUADRUPLETS BORN IN CAPE TOWN DOING WELL

CAPE TOWN-- Quadruplets born at Tygerberg Hospital over the weekend are doing well, says the hospital, the second biggest in South Africa.

A Tygerberg Hospital spokesperson said Monday that the quadruplets are doing well, with three already breathing on their own. The four, two boys and two girls, were born to 22-year-old Inga Mafenukaboys.

Obstetricians and paediatricians who treated the mother and babies say they were grateful for what they say is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Statistics show there's a one in 600,000 chance of a natural quadruplet conception.

The babies, who have been named Bubele, Bunono, Buchule and Bungcwele, were delivered by Ceasarian Section at 29 weeks.

The young mother says she still can't believe it's real, but says she hopes to give her babies the best possible lives.
