President Inaugurates Pafos Hospital Departments, Emphasizes Health as a Top Social Policy Pillar

Pafos: The Health sector is one of the most critical pillars of the government's social policy, along with Education, Housing, and the Welfare State, President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, said on Monday. The President inaugurated in the morning the Accident and Emergency Department, the Short-stay Nursing Unit, and the Outpatient Clinic for Infections and Immunology of the Pafos General Hospital.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President stated that the Government is "investing in the Health sector and continuing to upgrade the health services provided." He expressed satisfaction with the level of upgrade and the new wards and equipment. President Christodoulides noted that the government is investing an amount of over 150 million euros in the health sector, adding that Health and Education 'are not accounting transactions, but are investments'.

He highlighted that due to the responsible fiscal policy of the government, there is an opportunity to invest in these sectors and continue with the same framework. The President emphasized that the projects are substantive interventions, featuring very important, modern, state-of-the-art equipment. He mentioned that the medical and nursing staff have been trained, and service offerings have been upgraded.

The President reiterated the government's commitment to continuing its work in the health sector, with the next focus being on Limassol and Larnaca. He mentioned that projects underway there will be completed soon. He also recalled that the Polis Chrysochous Hospital will be upgraded with an investment of approximately 17 million euros, with work progressing according to schedules. The goal, he concluded, is to offer citizens the same services wherever they are.
