Mathias Deguenon – ‘We have to win against Gambia’

Benin coach Mathias Deguenon says the Cheetahs must beat The Gambia in their final group match to qualify for the quarter finals of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The goalless draw is the Cheetahs’ second stalemate of the tournament following their thrilling 2-2 draw with Zambia.

“It was a closed match, we had chances, without being able to score. The disappointment still remains,” Deguenon said.

“In the two games we had territorial domination but we lacked a finisher.

“We hope to find the solution in the third game, it’s fine to play well but we need to score,” Deguenon told journalists.

The WAFU-B runners-up will face Abdoulie Bojang’s Young Scorpions in the final of the group in Alexandria.
