March of Gratitude in Toma Celebrates Peace and Agricultural Revival


Nayala: The people of Nayala province rallied in force on Saturday in Toma for a march of gratitude and support for the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. They expressed their gratitude for the gradual return of internally displaced persons, the improvement in the security situation, and the revival of agricultural activities.



According to Burkina Information Agency, demonstrators arrived from the six municipalities aboard tricycles, tractors, and motorcycle taxis, gathering early in the morning on the Maracana grounds to begin the march. One of the organizers, Remi Toe, welcomed the participants and emphasized the need for vigilance.



The procession, under slogans of peace and unity, crossed the Gue Issa Pare and Joseph Ki-Zerbo roundabouts before proceeding to the Place de la Revolution and the Nayala High Commission. Community leaders at each stage congratulated the government for the gradual return of villages and the effective management of agricultural inputs by the provincial directorate of agriculture. They encouraged the population to work the land and praised the Head of State for the administrative changes that have designated Nayala as a region.



Go Abdoulaye, representing the village of Kosse, highlighted the resettlement of his village after seventy days, with more than 700 hectares now sown thanks to support from BIR 23. Other speakers, including Toe Emmanuel and Nathalie Toe, emphasized unity, cohesion, and renewed peace. Former displaced person Amadou Ouedraogo praised the distribution of fertilizers and the security provided by the FDS and VDP.



In front of the town hall, participant Zongo Adama expressed joy at the gradual return of peace to the villages. Yaya Pare, president of the Provincial Coalition of Citizen Watch Associations and Movements, highlighted the administrative benefits of Nayala’s new status, noting faster completion of procedures. He also praised the Ministry of Agriculture for modernizing production and facilitating access to seeds and inputs.



Nayala High Commissioner Honore Frederic Pare congratulated the participants, emphasizing the importance of recognition as a Burkinabe value. He called for continued social cohesion and coexistence. The march concluded at the High Commission with the delivery of an official message of recognition and support to President Ibrahim Traore and his government.



A spontaneous collection raised 85,340 CFA francs, which were donated to the High Commissioner for the benefit of the fighting forces. For the protesters, this peaceful mobilization signifies a united and grateful populace determined to support the authorities in their quest for peace, security, and development.
