Marcello Kadiamba unhappy with TP Mazembe crumbling

TP Mazembe head coach Marcello Kadiamba says he and his players are unhappy with the manner of their 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in Marrakech on Sunday.

The Congolese made a dream start to the eight-club competition, subduing Egyptian side Wadi Degla 1-0 in their opening match but shockingly crumbled 2-0 to Nigerian champions Bayelsa Queens.

Keeping in mind that a win would guarantee their progress, the Central Africans couldn’t upset the odds as they bowed to a humiliation against Cup holders and the 71-year-old manager insists the result did not reflect their good performance.
“We have to admit that the party was ruined for us. The result does not reflect our performance in the game, not at all,” Kadiamba, who doubles as the DR Congo women’s team head coach, told CAFOnline.com.

“We congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns for their victory. Their individuality spoke for itself. Apart from that, the result, as I said, did not reflect the game.”

After just a win from three games, the Central African giants were eliminated, having finished third in Group B – a maiden experience offering a lot of lessons, according to the manager.
“We’ve learned some lessons. In terms of the individual performance of the girls, many of the players did well. Against Mamelodi, we put up a good show,” he continued.

“I didn’t find them that strong, they are playable. Without some questionable decisions, the result would be different and also made my players more fragile, and we gave in to the pressure.”
