Mali midfielder Yoro Diaby pleased with TotalEnergies Man of the Match award

Yoro Diaby was all smiles as he spoke to the press following Mali’s magical comeback to force a 3-3 draw with Angola in their Group D opener at the TotalErnegies CHAN 2022 on Monday at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran, Algeria.

The Malian defender rose into the air to connect with a corner kick before finding the back of the net in the 78th minute to make it 3-2 against an Angolan side that looked like they were on their way to bagging three points.

The Eagles built momentum thereafter for Ousmane Coulibaly to equalize five minutes later to secure a point from a very tough thrilling game.

“I am glad to have received this award, but I must thank my teammates who worked tirelessly in this game to ensure this result. I received it on their behalf,” Diaby said after the match and consistently insisted that it was teamwork.

Diaby also played a key role in ensuring that Angola did not score a fourth goal especially in added time when they got a handful of chances.
