Laurent Kontogom Elected President of Greater Bobo Community Board


Houet: Laurent Kontogom, the president of the special delegation of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, was elected president of the Board of Directors of the Community of Communes of Greater Bobo during the first ordinary session held at the town hall of Bobo-Dioulasso.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Community of Communes of Greater Bobo, created by convention on March 10, 2023, and formalized on July 29, 2025, unites the communes of Bobo-Dioulasso, Bama, and Peni. The community aims to enhance inter-municipal cooperation for harmonious local development in the Houet province.



The inaugural session, chaired by the High Commissioner of Houet, provided a platform for members to examine and adopt several key items, including the validation of representatives from each municipality, the adoption of the constitutive convention, the internal regulations, and the election of governing bodies.



Laurent K. Kontogom was elected as chairman of the Board of Directors, with Felix Baye from the commune of Bama elected as vice-president. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kontogom expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and committed to promoting synergy among the member municipalities. Mr. Baye highlighted the initiative as a significant step in resource and skill sharing.



The session also covered discussions on the contribution arrangements of member municipalities, staff recruitment, and administrative operating mechanisms. The municipality of Peni formally joined the structure during this session.
