Ioba: The Secretary General of the Province expressed satisfaction with the progress in water and forests, as well as water and sanitation efforts. Andre Lankoande, representing the High Commissioner, presided over the national colors raising ceremony at the provincial directorate of water and forests.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by various constituted bodies of the province and included participation from departmental heads and trainees. During the ceremony, the provincial director of water and forests, Ollo Julien Kambou, highlighted the department’s critical missions aimed at enhancing public welfare and national development. Kambou emphasized professionalism, commitment, and public service as essential values for officers.
Kambou provided an overview of the year’s activities, such as the reforestation campaign that successfully planted over 85,000 trees across 24 species. Other initiatives included the Provincial Non-Timber Forest Products Days, the National Tree Day with the establishment of a provincial grove in Gueguere, and the Patriotic Hour to green Faso. He affirmed the department’s dedication to working with provincial authorities and local stakeholders for sustainable environmental management.
Ibrahim Ouattara, the provincial director of water and sanitation, elaborated on his department’s role in developing and overseeing the implementation of the ministry’s policies within the province.
Andre Lankoande, representing the High Commissioner, commended the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation for their satisfactory results and efforts in environmental preservation, counter-terrorism, and sanitation management. Lankoande acknowledged the challenges faced by decentralized services but expressed gratitude to the provincial directors and staff for their accomplishments.
Lankoande extended thanks to all constituent bodies for their support in government initiatives, which have led to a high implementation rate in the province. He reported that field visits during the agro-pastoral campaign in August indicated promising yields, encouraging technicians to elevate Ioba to a leading position in agricultural production within the Djoro region.
Concluding his remarks, Lankoande urged the community to maintain a clean environment to combat malaria effectively, advocating for behavior change to reduce mosquito prevalence.
