Ghana too much for host Liberia in Monrovia

Ghana moved a step closer to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup India 2020 final round qualifiers after an important 2 0 win away at Liberia in the first leg of the first round qualifiers on Sunday.

Second half goals from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah and Salamatu Abdulai in the 63rd and 87th minute were enough to give the Black Maidens victory at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.

Despite playing at home Liberia did all of the defending as the Black Maidens dominated the entire match until the sound of the final whistle.

The second leg will take place in Accra in a fortnight.
