Finke recalls trio to Cameroon duty

Cameroon have announced a 23-man squad for their 2017 Afcon qualifying clash with Gambia.

The Indomitable Lions will pitch camp in Senegalese capital Dakar beginning August 31 and could feature in a warm-up game against the Senegal Olympic team who are preparing for the 2015 All-Africa Games.

Head coach Volke Finke has recalled English-based duo Sébastien Bassong (Norwich City) and Allan Nyom (Watford FC) together with Schalke’s Joel Matip while Union Douala defender Kombi Madjang emerges the only local player to be handed an opportunity for the continental assignment.

Young goalkeeper André Ako, who plays for Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands, has been handed a debut invite while five other players have been put on the waiting list in case of last-minute injuries to any of the 23 called players.

Cameroon face Gambia in their second qualifying game to the 2017 Afcon in Banjul on September 6.
