The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2022-23 Group Stage will take place on Monday 12 December 2022.
Below is the full procedure of the draw:
Pot 2: Diables Noirs (CGO), Future FC (EGY), Al Akhder (LBY), ASFAR (MAR), AS Real de Bamako (MLI), Rivers Utd FC (NGR), DC Motema Pembe (RDC), FC St. Eloi Lupopo (RDC), Marumo Gallants (RSA), Young Africans (TAN), ASKO de Kara (TGO) & US Monastirienne (TUN) are the lowest seeded teams of level II,
o The 1st ball drawn will go directly to group A in position A4.
o The 2nd ball drawn will go directly to group B in position B4.
o The 3rd ball drawn will go directly to group C in position C4.
o The 4th ball drawn will go directly to group D in position D4.
o The 5th ball drawn will go directly to group A in position A3.
o The 6th ball drawn will go directly to group B in position B3.
o The 7th ball drawn will go directly to group C in position C3.
o The 8th ball drawn will go directly to group D in position D3.
o The 9th ball drawn will go directly to group A in position A2.
o The 10th ball drawn will go directly to group B in position B2.
o The 11th ball drawn will go directly to group C in position C2.
o The 12th ball drawn will go directly to group D in position D2.
Pot 1: TP Mazembe (RDC), Pyramids FC (EGY), ASEC Mimosas (CIV) & USMA (ALG) are the highest seeded teams of level I,
o The first ball drawn will go directly to group A in position A1.
o The second ball drawn will go directly to group B in position B1.
o The third ball drawn will go directly to group C in position C1.
o The fourth ball drawn will go directly to group D in position D1.
NB: According to article no.17 of chapter III of the regulations governing the competition, 3 clubs affiliated to the same association cannot be drawn into the same group. This case can occur for the clubs DC Motema Pembe, FC St. Eloi Lupopo & TP Mazembe of RD Congo.
Accordingly, in the case both DC Motema Pembe and FC St. Eloi Lupopo are drawn in the same group in the first part of the draw, TP Mazembe must be drawn in a different group.
Therefore, if the draw of TP Mazembe results in having all three clubs of RD Congo in the same group, TP Mazembe shall be put in the following group. The club drawn next will then be put in the group with the 2 other clubs from RD Congo.
If the two teams of RD Congo (DCMP & FCSEL) are drawn in group D and TP Mazembe is not drawn in the 2 first balls of pot 1, then TP Mazembe will automatically be put in group C and the remaining team in the pot in group D. Nonetheless, the draw of the 2 remaining balls must be done.
