Swazi campaigners, Mbabane Swallows left for Algiers on Sunday for Tuesday Total CAF Confederation Cup Group B Match day four tie against MC Alger with a depleted squad.
Untimely injuries have ruled out duo, midfielder Papy Kabamba and solid defender Sifiso Mabila from the crucial tie, which will see influential captain Tony Tsabedze returning from suspension.
Despite the absence of the duo with a combined playing time of more than 1200 minutes between this term, Tsabedze insists losing is not option.
We are used to playing without some of our players due to injuries and suspension, but we can still snatch the maximum points. We can’t afford to lose but we know it will be tough so a draw would still be valuable away, declared Tsabedze, who missed the reverse in Mbabane two weeks ago.
On the other hand, Swallows coach Thabo Koki Vilakati is looking forward to any result other than defeat to boost his side’s chances of reaching the knockout stage of the second-tier continental championship.
We have done all preparations. The boys are ready physically and mentally. One thing I can say is we’re going there for two results; a win or draw.
Anything other than these two results would just be unfortunate but we’ve done all we had to do, said Vilakati.
The reverse ended barren a fortnight ago in Lobamba.
South Africa’s Platinum Stars will host CS Sfaxien in the other Group B match on Wednesday in Rustenburg.
