As of 31st December 2022, the total number of refugees and asylum-seekers in the DRC is 522,699. The refugee population stands at 520,547, a decrease of 0.6% (2911), mainly due to the outcomes of a verification exercise of the south Sudanese refugees and revalidation of the Burundians and Central Africans refugees. While the number of asylum seekers increased from 1242 to 2152 as a result of registration of new arrivals from Burundi. During the month, some 103 Burundian were assisted to repatriate, while 735 Congolese (ex-refugees) returned to the DRCongo.
