Dayo Berkane’s Iron man

Convincing Burkinabe Issoufou Dayo to stay was not an easy task for RS Berkane officials after the former has consistently attracted interest from some French clubs the past three years.

Dayo has become one of the best players in Morocco thanks to his consistent performances in the Moroccan top flight ‘Botola and the CAF Confederation Cup with RS Berkane.

With his strength pace tactical and technical abilities the 28 year old stands out amongst his peers. It is therefore little surprise that he continues to attract suitors from Europe notably France.

He has been one of the main pillars for Berkane the past three seasons and aiding their quest for a first ever continental silverware.

Born in 1991 in the Burkina Faso city of Bobo Dioulasso he started his career at hometown club Racing Club de Bobo Dioulasso in 2011 before moving to the capital Ouagadougou to join Etoile Filante two years later.

After two years with Etoile his exploits was noticed by Kinshasa giants AS Vita Club who signed him on.

For supporters of Berkane the Burkinabe remains an idol. And their support to the defender has been evergreen even when playing for his national team Les A talons.

Dayo’s tackles are spectacular and incredible to watch. His speed and his ability to dispossess his opponents of the ball make him a delight to watch.

In addition to his defending roles he often joins the attack and has a knack for goals. With two goals in the Moroccan league and one in the CAF Confederation Cup so far this season he is a threat whenever he moves upfront.

Having missed out on the ultimate last season losing to Egyptian giants Zamalek in the final on penalties Dayo is positive that Berkane can go all the way this term.

And after a 2 2 draw with Egyptian side Al Masry in the quarter final first leg away the Burkinabe is upbeat the dream of the ultimate is alive. Berkane host the reverse on Sunday.

We will fight this year to win the CAF Confederation Cup. There is better way to rewarding our fans for their loyalty and support and to bring honour to the city of Berkane.
