CECAFA-KAGAME CUP: TANZANIA DUO AZAM, SIMBA REACH FINAL

Tanzania duo, Simba and Azam edge JKU of Zanzibar and Gor Mahia of Kenya on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam to reach the final.

Holders Azam beat Gor Mahia 2-0 after extra time to book their place at the final, their third in the history of the competition. The clash was a repetition of the 2015 final which Azam won by the same scoreline.

Following goalless draw in normal time, new recruit Ditram Nchimbi put Azam up within two minutes of extra time capitalizing a blunder by the Gor Mahia backline. Zimbabwe-import, Bruce Kangwa capped victory with a solo effort on the 100th minute mark to secured Azam a place in the decisive match.

In the other semis clash, Rwanda import, Meddie Kagere scored the lone goal lone goal on 44 minutes to power Simba to victory at the expense of JKU. Kagere who joined Simba from Gor Mahia last month continue with his fine form, scoring his third of the competition.

The final will be played on Friday.
