The Camrail train that left Yaounde this Friday 19th October in the evening has derailed. The incident occurred between Bitom and Pangar in the Adamawa region at 4: 22 am on Saturday 20th October 2012.
Three passenger carriages and two cargo wagons skidded off the rail leaving some 28 passengers injured.
A Camrail medical team headed by Professor Abollo Mbemti was immediately called in to offered first aid treatment to the injured while the victims were being transported to the Ngaoundere protestant hospital.
The Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Transport , Mefiro Oumarou ordered the creation of a crisis unit at the Yaoundé train Station. So far, the unit has been coordinating all activities concerning the victims.
According to latest reports, eighteen of the twenty- eight passengers have been discharged from hospital.
Ten are still under medical surveillance amongst whom are two cases rated as grave.
