Cameroon: Mike Ndoumou & others rewarded for a scintillating Super League season

Cameroon’s U-20 lionesses and Amazone FAP’s head Coach Ndoumou Mike Josephine, has been named the best coach in the Cameroon women’s top-flight for the just ended campaign. This was during the second edition of the Guinness Super League awards night that was held at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde on Thursday.
51-year-old Ndoumou Mike beat off competition from last year’s winner Hassan Balla Ibrahim of AS AWA FC and Francis Koloko of Eclair FC. It was a second accolade in less than a week for the woman who led Cameroon’s women military team to the final of the recent military world cup, as she was named best coach in women’s football, during the Cameroon Ballon D’or night at the Yaounde Congress Hall on October 29.

In the other categories, experienced goalkeeper Annette Flore Ngo Ndom, was voted the best goalkeeper. The 37-year-old shot stopper, had a scintillating season between the sticks for Amazone FAP, as they finished second in the league. Ngo Ndom has won 44 caps for the indomitable lionesses of Cameroon, featuring at at the 2012 London Olympics, and two world cups (2015 and 2019) and was crowned best goalkeeper of the TotalEnergies WAFCON 2016. She has featured in four editions of the WAFCON (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018).
One of the revelations of the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Monique Ngock, was crowned best player of the season. The 18-year-old played a key role for Eclair FC last term, before coming to the limelight with her staggering performance with the indomitable lionesses during the WAFCON in Morocco.

Lekie Filles’ Mélanie Nzeutop, was named the revelation of the season, Lamine Mana bagged home the Golden Boot finishing as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals.

Aline Guimbang was voted best referee, with Laure Tsafack and Chin Valentine named best assistant referees.

Guinness Super League winners AS AWA FC, received the fair play award and were named the best digital club.

Monique Ngock, Lamine Mana, Brenda Tabe, Éliane Bibout, Brigitte Mbomozomo, Geneviève Owona Mbala, Britanie Abomo Mbida , Jeanne kouesso, Michèle Moumazing, Catherine Mbele, and Annette Ngo Ndom, made the best XI of the season.
The Guinness Super League awards night is meant to reward actors who distinguished themselves in the course of the Season. The second edition of the event was graced by AFCON winners Lucien Mettomo and Albert Roger Milla, while 2022 deputy women’s African footballer of the year Nchout Njoya Ajara, gave out 2.5 million FCFA as prize money to different athletes.

The Cameroon women’s top tier championship is expected to kick-off in January 2023 for the 2022-2023 season, as 12 teams battle for who succeeds AS AWA FC as champions.
