Cameroon: Cameroon took another significant step toward modernising its education system this week with the inauguration of an Intelligent Classroom initiative led by the Ministry of Secondary Education (MINSEC) in partnership with global education technology company Promethean. The launch ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, senior government officials, international partners, and students, showcased how advanced digital tools and artificial intelligence can transform teaching and learning in the country's schools. According to Cameroon News Agency, the Intelligent Classroom integrates interactive display technology, digital learning platforms, and AI-enabled classroom tools designed to support teachers, personalise learning, and improve student engagement. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Ngute described the initiative as an important milestone in Cameroon's education development. 'This project demonstrates Cameroon's com mitment to equipping our young people with the skills needed for the digital age. Education remains central to our national development strategy,' he said. The Minister of Secondary Education highlighted that the initiative forms part of a broader government programme to expand digital access across the education sector and ensure greater equity for students across the country. 'Digitalisation is essential for the future of our education system. Through initiatives like the Intelligent Classroom, we are working to ensure that every learner has access to modern tools that enhance teaching and learning,' she said. Promethean Chairman Dr. Simon Leung praised the collaboration between the government and international partners. 'Cameroon is demonstrating strong leadership in embracing innovation in education. This intelligent classroom represents not just new technology, but a new approach to learning designed to empower teachers and inspire students.'
