Cameroon – Far North Region: Emergency Monitoring, Report n°35 (August 25, 2022)

The purpose of the emergency tracking tool is to gather information on significant and sudden population movements. This dashboard presents information on movements of people from the localities of Moutsikar, Bigdé and Moudoukoi du Mayo-Moskota and Mokolo, which occurred between July 15 and August 19, 2022.

SUMMARY OF EVENTS

Following multiple attacks between July 28 and August 19, 2022 on several localities in the Mokolo and Mayo-Moskota districts, all located in the Mayo Tsanaga department (Far North region). About three hundred and twenty (320) households, i.e. 2,500 individuals, carried out a forced displacement to find refuge in the localities of Kechkémé, Guid-Balla and Dzarkouma (district of Koza) and Mandossa and Moskota (district of Mayo-Moskota) department of Mayo -Tsanaga (Far North region). The vast majority of displaced populations (70%) are homeless and residing in the open, while 20 percent live in abandoned houses and 10 percent live with host families.
