Cameroon – Far North Region: Emergency Monitoring – Department of Mayo Tsanaga, Report n°49 (19-23 October 2022)

Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is one of the components of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) deployed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Its objective is to gather information on significant and sudden population movements as well as on security and climate emergencies. The data was collected by direct observation and by telephone interviews, with 05 key informants, mainly local authorities, civil society organizations (CSOs) and representatives of the populations in the affected places. This dashboard presents information on the people affected by repeated attacks by NSAGs (Non-State Armed Groups) that have caused material damage.

On October 18, 2022, the village of Guedjele, a locality bordering the public school of Moskota and located on the main axis with the private Catholic school of Sodecoton and Galdala in the district of Koza, department of Mayo Tsanaga, region of the Far North of Cameroon, was the victim of an incursion by NSAGs into a rural area around 11 a.m. This incident caused a panic within the community and caused the displacement of more than two hundred people towards two neighboring localities in particular Pambao and Walade in the same district.
