Ouagadougou: The 42nd class of the National Police Academy (ENP) offered scholarships, food, and school kits to the children of its members who fell at the front, in order to ease the burden on families and encourage children to continue their education.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation consists of food, scholarships worth 50,000 FCFA each, and complete school kits, adapted to each level concerned. Chief Police Commissioner Boureima Sawadogo, president of the organizing committee, emphasized that these donations are meant to lighten the burdens on families and motivate children to pursue education with courage and determination.
Sawadogo noted the challenging circumstances Burkina Faso has faced since 2015, highlighting the unity of the 42nd class not only in operations but also in supporting families of their deceased graduates. Annually, the class contributes to bring smiles to the children attending school, reflecting the resilience of the Burkinabe people amid adversity.
Police Divisional Commissioner Abdoulaye Belem, Director General of the ENP and sponsor of the event, stated that this ceremony symbolizes solidarity, recognition, and hope. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by defense and security forces, particularly the National Police, and reinforced the importance of supporting the children of fallen officers.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Belem encouraged them to focus on education, emphasizing that the knowledge gained today will empower them to tackle future challenges. He urged them to practice discipline, love for neighbors, and dedication to the homeland.
The 42nd class comprises officers from the national police, municipal police, and prison security guards. GrSce Zongo, representing the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the assistance received, noting the significant impact on their lives and promising to work diligently in school to eventually help others.
The event also featured advice for widows and orphans, artistic performances, tree planting, and a community meal. The 8th edition of the Charity Day of the 42nd promotion of the ENP was themed ‘One family, one commitment: the 42nd class of the National Police Academy with orphans.’
