Benin U20 star Dokou: “We have to perform better”

The Cheetahs Benin rue their missed chances in Tuesday’s TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations stalemate against Zambia.

The West Africans dominated possession and the chances but lacked the cutting edge to convert their numerous opportunities at the Alexandria Stadium.

Rodolfo Aloko put Benin in front with a brilliantly taken goal 13 minutes after the restart but Zambia came back to snatch a point courtesy of Ng’ambi.

The substitute latched on to Bulaya’s cross to level the score much to the frustration of Man of the Match Dokou.

“We did not follow the coach’s instructions otherwise we could have won,” the Smouha ace told journalists.

“Zambia came back too quickly because we lacked concentration. We have to be more efficient.

“It’s an honour for me to be the man of the match even if all my teammates deserved it as much.”
