Yaounde: The Ashong Social, Cultural and Development Association has successfully raised over CFA 16 million to construct a community hall in Ashong, North West. The funds, largely pledged, were gathered during ASCUDA's annual general meeting held on December 13 in Yaounde. According to ASCUDA president general, Mbah John Timben, the hall is estimated to cost 120 million CFA and will serve as a venue for events, youth empowerment programs, and community activities. According to Cameroon News Agency, major contributors to the fundraising effort included Fongoh and Partners Real Estate, represented by CEO Fongoh Valentine, who donated CFA 1 million. Tikum Vincent, Quality Director of Telcar Cocoa, also made a substantial contribution, highlighting the significance of giving back to the community. In gratitude for the support, the traditional ruler of Ashong, Fon Mbafor Christopher III, expressed appreciation for ASCUDA's efforts. He recalled how previous fundraisers in Buea and Tiko facilitated the distributi on of electricity in Ashong. Fon Mbafor praised ASCUDA's determination under the leadership of its national president, Tiban John, noting its positive impact on community members' lives. The fundraiser was marked by cultural displays, and the construction of the Multipurpose Community Hall is anticipated to begin soon. Ashong, located in Batibo Subdivision, Momo Division, is home to approximately 9,000 people, with agriculture being their primary livelihood.
