Midfielder Djihad Bizimana bagged a hat-trick as APR of Rwanda scored four goals past Anse Reunion of Seychelles on Sunday at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali.
Twenty-one year old Bizimana found the back of the net in the 12th, 70th and 90th minutes whilst Isaac Bigirimana netted the other goal for the army side.
Bizimana, a member of the Rwanda squad at the just ended African Nations Championship Morocco 2018, opened the scores with a stunning effort in the 12th minute from a Jean-Baptiste Mugiraneza assist to give the host a first half lead.
On 70 minutes, Bizimana headed home the second from Rague Byiringiro's cross before Bigirimana took the game beyond the visitors with the third goal eight minutes later.
Bizimana completed his hat-trick in stoppage time after substitute Maxime Sekamana had put him through.
The second leg will take place on Tuesday, 20 February 2018 in Victoria.
